Prezi 40 points

Congress Prezi

Civics
9-12.C.2.1. (Application) Describe the means of influencing and/or participating in a republic.

The main application for Prezi is that it is a flexible presentation tool. The best thing about Prezi is that as a teacher you can make the presentation tie into the subject with the background picture. It seems to me that the best part of Prezi is that it integrates youtube into it so easily compared to powerpoint. Also being able to store presentations on the internet makes it easier to create presentation at home and than access them anywhere.

Animoto 40 points
Video

9-12.US.1.1. Students are able to explain the cause-effect relationships and legacy that distinguish significant historical periods from Reconstruction to the present.

The best part of Animoto is that you can use it to create teaser videos for your lesson. A benefit of Animoto is the fact that it allows you to store videos online compared to a jump drive. I think that students could use Animoto to create short videos to summaries the lesson for the day. Overall though I think the future of movie creation lies more with iMovie on the iPad.

Magazine Cover 40 points

9-12.US.1.1. Students are able to explain the cause-effect relationships and legacy that distinguish significant historical periods from Reconstruction to the present.

Using a magazine cover in the classroom is a great idea because it can tap into the creative side of students in the classroom. The magazine cover forces the students to learn how to narrow down images to what is the most relevant image they want to get across. The magazine cover also forces the students to summaries there many points into a gist on the cover. Overall all I think that the cover also allows teachers to access student in different ways for summaries. Creating is also one of the best ways to see if a student truly learned the material.

Newspaper Clipping 40 points

9-12.US.1.1. Students are able to explain the cause-effect relationships and legacy that distinguish significant historical periods from Reconstruction to the present.

The main idea for I have for news article creation is that students at the end of class would have to write a news story about a subject we talked about in class that day. I could see students also using this tool as a way to write about their current event article in History Class. I think the students would like to have an opportunity to see their name in print.
